Hey Moms!
It’s summer break!
Summer means a break from routines and school activities. It can also mean restless kids and chaos in the house! There are lots of things you can do to keep structure in your home but still let your kids be on vacation. Here are a few ideas:
Have a morning routine:
Read a Bible story to your kids while they eat breakfast. After breakfast, have your kids brush their teeth, get dressed, and make their beds. Follow that with age-appropriate reading and math activities. Then it’s free time until lunch! The afternoon can be filled with a variety of indoor or outdoor activities. Save the videos games, movies, or TV until late afternoon so they can stay entertained while you make dinner or do personal things.
Count down to fun:
If you have summer plans that your kids are looking forward to, make a calendar to hang on the fridge so they can count the days to their special event.
Focus on others:
Give your kids a supply of crayons, markers, colored paper, etc., and have them make cards to send to grandparents or other special people in their lives.
Family night:
Have one night a week that is set aside for a family activity. Be creative and have fun. A family night does not have to be expensive. Go for a walk together, play board games, or play baseball in the back yard. Remember moms--they grow up fast and soon they will be gone!
